Finance Manager

Hays Senior Finance is delighted to be working with a leading UK supply chain partner who are looking to add a finance manager to their team.
Your new role
An amazing opportunity has arisen to join the finance team in a varied and demanding role that helps support the growth agenda within the selected business sector, in the pursuit of new business, launching new projects as well as working on BAU. As Finance Manager you will report directly to the Senior Finance and Commercial Lead and have responsibility for multiple business units.
Main Responsibilities include;

  • Publishing weekly management information for the site to incorporate P&L Accounts down to contract level as well as statistic-based productivity measures to assess the efficiency of each contract against budgetary targets
  • Create detailed forecasts and the annual operating budget
  • Prepare customer budgets and forecasts
  • Manage processes and customer period ends in order that all deadlines are achieved
  • Build commercial awareness of the contracts to be able to develop financial analysis that supports customer strategy and growth plans
  • Work closely with customer finance contact in supporting understanding of expenditure and in decision making process
  • Tracking & coordinating any continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
  • Influence the operations and establish a role as a critical part of the management team to improve overall performance, risk management and commercial achievement.
  • Improve decision-making & demonstrate value through insight and interpretation and challenge
  • Advise and educate operational management on all financial and commercial requirements
  • Drive performance through budgets and forecasts to demonstrate control. Understanding and value add
  • Motivate team, provide direction and effectively monitor performance to ensure high levels of performance are achieved
  • Communicate ideas and information clearly, accurately, effectively and persuasively both orally and in writing
  • Create business approval papers to support organic growth, new business opportunities and renewals as required to be reviewed by Senior Business Partner
  • Lead contract negotiations for small-size opportunities within contract guidelines and approval paper targets
  • Draft and present contract checklists
  • Lead finance & commercial workstreams for small/medium projects for onboarding & business wins support pricing for new business & renewals
  • P&L ownership and driving performance, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
  • Review weekly financial reporting
  • Lead and manage delivery of the annual budgets and customer forecasts
  • Develop strong working relationships with customers
  • Work with non-finance stakeholders to develop strong commercial awareness and understanding of budget and key cost drivers
  • Develop models and reporting to drive performance through an enhanced understanding of internal and external commercial and financial drivers

What you'll need to succeed

  • Customer facing experience and ability to build relationships at all levels
  • A proactive, inquisitive approach with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance
  • Ability to work under pressure while driving performance
  • Passionate about project work and winning new business
  • Must be flexible, and respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests
  • Excellent PC Skills and the ability to harness IT systems to benefit the operation
  • A can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • A track record of success in a similar role
  • Significant experience in the implementation and application of commercial and financial controls & processes
  • Proven leadership and management skills
