DT Technician

Accelerate Teaching is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced DT Technician to join a dynamic secondary school in Leeds. Starting in September 2024, this role offers the chance to play a pivotal part in a vibrant educational environment, fostering creativity and technical skills among students.

Role Overview:

As a DT Technician, you will provide essential support to the Design and Technology department, ensuring the smooth operation of technical resources and equipment. Your role will be crucial in enabling teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons, while also supporting students in their practical learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage a range of technical equipment, tools, and resources used in Design and Technology.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of materials for practical lessons.
  • Provide technical support during lessons and assist students with project work and practical tasks.
  • Ensure that all equipment and tools are in safe working order and adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Support the development and implementation of new teaching materials and resources.
  • Assist with stock management, including ordering and maintaining inventory levels.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a DT Technician or in a similar technical support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Design and Technology equipment and resources.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and perform minor repairs.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and students.
  • An understanding of health and safety procedures related to technical equipment and materials.
