My client a leading financial membership body based in the City of London, is currently recruiting for a Senior Policy and Regulatory Affairs Associate.

Duties and Responsibilities

engaging with stakeholders, including the UK regulators and policy makers (HM Treasury, Bank of England, PRA and FCA) to shape the development of regulation/legislation for the benefit of our members

identifying pertinent topics for our members and forming / leading policy working groups as a forum for attendees discuss these topics. You will send relevant communications / regulatory updates to the groups, organise and chair meetings, and deliver actions. You may lead and present to working groups that focus on topics such as the Senior Managers and Certification Regime Review, the PRA's approach to branch and subsidiary supervision, diversity and inclusion, and the regulators' approach to enforcement

researching and analysing key topics to develop our policy priorities and position papers

researching and preparing written responses to consultations and discussion papers and letters to policy makers/regulators

developing positive relationships with City institutions and other trade associations to discuss policy priorities

developing subject matter expertise on specific regulatory areas, and presenting relevant updates to our members

building links with industry experts who have knowledge and expertise relevant to our members.

providing insight on the areas of interest for our members for events and training, organising such events, and identifying / inviting appropriate external stakeholders to speak at / facilitate events.

chairing and facilitating member roundtables; and

networking with representatives of member banks, external advisory firms to gather intelligence on issues of relevance to our members.

Person Specification

a 2:1 (or equivalent) degree or post-graduate degree, ideally in economics, law or politics

Knowledge of wholesale bank/financial regulation/policy issues in the UK gained from study or a previous/current role

A minimum of 3 years' experience since beginning full time professional employment, ideally working for a financial services membership association

Ability to work independently and to assimilate information relating legal/regulatory topics quickly and accurately.

IT literate (user of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint)

Good written and verbal communication skills

Professional presentation and relationship skills

Excellent organisational skills and ideally some experience in the organisation and marketing of events.
