Front End Web Developer

The Company

With sites across the whole of the UK and many years of successful trading our client have established themselves as a market leader in their sector. Their growth is underpinned by a strong IT strategy which is being delivered by an excellent in house team. We're now searching for a passionate and skilled Frontend Developer to join this team, based out of our clients head office in Gateshead.

The Role

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in core web development principles, coupled with expertise in modern frameworks, and an understanding of SEO best practices is beneficial.

Your role will involve;

  • Drive digital innovation: Develop and enhance our software solutions , collaborating with a talented team to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
  • Build SEO-optimised solutions: Create scalable and modular functionality with a strong focus on SEO for both websites and intranet systems.
  • Lead the design process: Translate business requirements into detailed specifications, wireframes, and designs.
  • Mentor and collaborate: Share your expertise by mentoring and collaborating with fellow developers, contributing to the growth of our frontend team and processes.

The Person

We are looking for candidate who have:

  • Minimum of 2 years of frontend development experience.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript/ES6.
  • Strong understanding of React or Angular, with experience using Redux/RxJS.
  • Proficiency in Git/GitHub for version control.
  • Knowledge of mobile and responsive web design principles.
  • Experience working with both third-party and internal APIs.
  • Proficiency in using Chrome Developer Console for debugging.
  • An understanding of SEO principles, including Web Core Vitals and site speed optimization.
  • An awareness of SMACSS or BEM methodologies.
  • Understanding of agile/scrum frameworks.
  • Experience with pair programming and conducting code reviews.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and solutions.
  • Experience with unit and end-to-end testing tools like Jest or Playwright.

This is a permanent role and will come with salary of up to £45,000. The client is not able to sponsor and is looking for candidates with a right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

The role will be based out of their offices in Gateshead however will offer a hybrid working arrangement.
