Project Engineer Location: Milton Keynes Permanent Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum. D.O.E.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join our client on a permanent contract in Milton Keynes. Our client is a leading business within the Engineering industry both in the UK and internationally. Manufacturing highly engineered components and systems for a wide variety of global markets, their products can be found in and around anything that moves.

The Project Engineer role:

  • Conceptual design, technical specification, research and product development, theoretical modelling and calculations, production support, project management, and feasibility study applied to the full product lifecycle.
  • Be responsible for the implementation of engineering changes and major redesign activity following NPI methodology.

Project Engineer Duties:

  • Produce engineering documentation to define products, such as assembly and detail drawings, bills of materials, component specifications, and other appropriate documents in accordance with Division and Company Procedures.
  • Ensure that calculations, tests, and relevant design methods are carried out to verify and validate that products meet specifications.
  • Liaise with other departments to support the introduction of products and provide technical support for existing products.
  • For projects that require stage gate (Winovation) approval and follow the NPI (New Product Introduction) process, prepare for and conduct stage gate and NPI meetings.
  • Communicate with customers and company sales organisations through appropriate communication routes to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Lead engineering change activities by reviewing change requests and through sound engineering principles propose and implement engineering changes.

Project Engineer Accountabilities:

  • Carry out the required engineering tasks to implement changes to products to agreed specifications, costs, and timescales as defined in Division procedures or to introduce new products/technologies as required.
  • Ensure accurate engineering documentation is produced to agreed costs and timescales.
  • Ensure engineering documentation is stored, maintained, and communicated in appropriate databases defined by Division & department procedures.
  • Maintain engineering project files with all relevant documents to ensure an up-to-date, organised project record.
  • Communicate engineering outputs in an appropriate & timely manner.
  • Supervise graduates or trainees in carrying out said engineering tasks.
  • Be aware of and ensure appropriate consideration is given to all and any UK, EC, or foreign governmental acts, regulations (both mandatory and statutory) that may affect or influence the viability and the usage of the products.

Ideal Experience for the Project Engineer

  • A recognised degree in a Mechanical, Electronic, or Mechatronic discipline.
  • Experienced engineer in a Mechanical, Electronic, or Mechatronic environment.
  • Ability to produce engineering documents using CAD.
  • Computer literate: Ability to use Microsoft Word & Excel, computer databases.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic components, systems, and related standards and legislation.
  • Experience with combined mechanical/electrical/electronic systems would be very beneficial.
  • Competence in Solidworks, Inventor & AutoCAD.
