Group Financial Controller

Gleeson Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a high-growth, ambitious SME business, who are looking to appoint a new Group Financial Controller. You would be number 1 in Finance, working closely with and reporting into the Managing Director.

As the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organisation. Your primary duties will include managing the treasury, ensuring accurate management accounting, overseeing statutory reporting, handling payroll, and leading the finance team.

Key responsibilities of the Group Financial Controller position:

Treasury Management:

  • Oversee cash flow management, including forecasting and monitoring cash positions.
  • Manage banking relationships and optimise the company's liquidity.
  • Implement and monitor treasury policies and procedures.

Management Accounting:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
  • Analyse financial performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting processes.

Statutory Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and file accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors.

Payroll Management:

  • Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage employee benefits and compensation programs.
  • Implement and maintain payroll systems and procedures.

Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other departments.

Requirements for the position:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification - ACA or ACCA
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, tax management, and treasury management, preferably within a high-growth and acquisitive business environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Experience in managing financial audits and dealing with external auditors.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
