We are working with Bolton Council to find an Information Governance Officer role on an interim basis.
Length of role: Initial 3 months.
Umbrella pay rate: £20.75 per hour. Please let me know if your day rate expectations are different.
Location: Hybrid. Minimum 2 days per week in town hall office.
Hours: 9:00-17:00 Monday to Friday
We are seeking an Information Governance Officer with a strong background in information governance. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and ready to deliver high-quality work from day one. This role requires a professional who is a team player, dedicated to working exclusively with our organisation, and capable of managing a full caseload independently.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests.
- Handling subject access requests in compliance with data protection laws.
- Conducting internal reviews related to information governance.
- Advising on information sharing agreements and their implications.
- Assessing and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for various services.
- Providing expert advice to council officers on a range of information governance (IG) issues.
- Managing cases involving breaches of data protection within the council.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to respond effectively to FOIA, EIR, and subject access requests.
- Experience conducting internal reviews and advising on information sharing agreements.
- Knowledgeable in assessing and advising on DPIAs.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong team player with a sensible approach to workload management.
- Ability to work autonomously and hit the ground running with a full caseload.
