Assistant Accountant - Maternity Cover

Our client, a leading employer based in Newport is easily accessible by public transport. They have modern offices and offer hybrid working (minimum 1 day per week in the office) along with excellent benefits which include:

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays + Birthday (34 days in total)
  • Hours 37.5 hours week Mon - Fri (flexible on start and finish times to suit between 8-6)

The role is to cover maternity leave with an initial fixed term contract for 6 months, with a possibility of being extended by increments of 3 months up to a maximum of 12 months.

Main Duties:

Reporting to the Management Accountant, your duties and responsibilities include:

  • Fixed Asset Management
  • Capex & Disposal Reporting
  • Consult with Group Accounts on Fixed Assets
  • Digital Subscriptions: Piano & Legacy
  • Processing Monthly Journals and Reports
  • Authorisation and checking of Coupa Requisitions & Un-backed Invoices.
  • Consult with Internal & External Auditors for Fixed Assets & Digital Subs
  • Weekly/Month End Bank Reconciliations for Specialist Bank Accounts - GBP & Dollar
  • Preparation of Monthly Credit Control KPi's
  • Office National Statistics submissions
  • Ad hoc reports for management

Job Requirements:

  • Studying or passed AAT level 2 or 3.
  • Computer literate with good Excel skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and organise workload
  • Effective communication skills and ability to deal with financial and non-financial individuals
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Work as part of a team
