What ASEND Tuition Is
We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Finchley. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.
We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil
Our pupil is a 14 year old young man who has a history of Autism and anxiety. He is intelligent and able with a great sense of humour, who needs some support with closing gaps in his learning. He has a range of interests and hobbies, including football and playing video games and he likes to stay active by attending the gym regularly. He loves to have a good philosophical debate and enjoys spending time in nature. We would love to find someone who can incorporate his interests into his learning and help him achieve GCSEs in English and Maths.
Our pupil struggles with socialising and finds this stressful, so a tutor who is able to develop his social skills would be essential. The ideal candidate would be someone who is comfortable delivering GCSE content as he is looking to achieve qualifications in GCSE Maths and English. Someone who is empathetic and understanding would be great as our pupil can become quite anxious.
About you:
- You'll have some experience with SEN: ASD, SEMH and Anxiety
- You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
- You'll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
- You'll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
- Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
- Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
- Use a person-centred approach in their work
- Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
- Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
