Role: Production Manager

Job Term: Permanent

Location: Knutsford, WA16

Working hours: Monday - Friday 9.00am-6.00pm

Pay: £40,000 per annum - negotiable depending on experience

Key Rosponsibilities: This is an opportunity to join a well-established business:

  • Deputise for the Site Manager Manager when required.
  • Managing the Production team to deliver performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Manage the Hygiene activities across site.
  • Maintenance of the site and all assets, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure all activities are fully integrated and supportive to production needs.
  • Responsible for managing the production department spend within budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring that contractors / visitors fulfil their obligations whilst onsite.
  • Ensure all activities are kept on schedule and taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Communication to all internal and external parties.
  • Responsible for driving and developing the Team.
  • Identification and implementation of continuous improvement.
  • Reduce downtime and increase efficiencies.
  • Deal with emergency situations as appropriate and communicate appropriately.
  • Set and maintain high standards of conduct, safety, and food hygiene within the team.
  • Closely monitor key process parameters and product quality.
  • Write / update RA's and SOPs where required.
  • Set individual objectives and conduct appraisals for the Team.
  • Managing individual performance and conduct disciplinaries if required.
  • Setting, managing and communication of shift rotas.
  • The training of new staff when required.
  • Alongside the Technical Manager ensure all staff are suitably trained in both the safe systems of work and SOP's.
  • Always work within the safety and food safety guidelines of the business.
  • Be an active member of the site H&S committee.
  • To undertake RA's and PUWER assessments for new equipment prior to installation.
  • To define and promote safe working practices within all operating procedures.
  • Responsible for the legal duty of care owed to employees and others.
  • Responsible for understanding the relevant requirements of the health and safety policy.
  • Comply with all appropriate HR policies and manage the compliance of your team.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • 5 years food industry experience in a similar role.
  • Appropriate food / manufacturing qualification.
  • Experience in the use of CI techniques / Lean / 6 Sigma
  • Excellent problem solver
  • Excellent knowledge of H&S legislation.
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene standards.
  • BRC understanding and compliance.
  • Level 3 Food Safety
