Full-Time Tutor - Supporting Students with Complex Needs

Location: Various Locations Across Essex

Job Type: Full-Time (Fixed Term - 1 Year, with possibility of renewal)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable Tutor to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering teaching, learning, and assessment programs to young adults with complex needs. Your work will be on an outreach basis, supporting students in a variety of community settings. You will be supported by Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who work closely with students, typically on a 1:1 basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Learning: Deliver engaging and tailored teaching sessions that meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring progress and positive outcomes.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and adaptation of curriculum materials to suit the individual needs of students with complex difficulties or disabilities.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral support to students, helping them to develop their independence, confidence, and social skills.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate records of student progress, lesson plans, and communication with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • General Responsibilities: Collaborate with colleagues, attend team meetings, and participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve your practice.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Required:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DET, PGCE, Cert Ed) or a commitment to achieving one.

  • Experience working with young adults or children with additional needs.

  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle (essential for outreach work).

  • Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of teaching experience.

  • Experience in liaising with families, local authorities, and involvement in Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) review processes.
