SEA Ltd is delighted to announce an exciting vacancy for a Safety Engineer to join our expanding Defence Portfolio. The team specialises in diverse, innovative products that are pushing the boundaries of defence engineering. This job will see the applicant joining a team that delivers safety management developing safety cases and delivering safety case reports on a number of SEA's products from design, through to testing, operation and disposal.

What you'll be doing

As a Safety Engineer you will take responsibility for supporting the safety activities on a number of SEA products lines and projects including Launchers, Underwater Acoustics, Sensor and Communications systems and technical refreshes.

  • Responsible for the development of Safety Management Plans and Safety Case Reports in accordance with MoD Military Standard (Def-Stan 00-056) or equivalent.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with the latest safety practices in industry and the MoD. Ensuring company awareness is appropriate for what we do.
  • Utilising the recognised safety methods, technology and tools you will explore all aspects of Safety management through the design lifecycle including hazard identification, hazard and risk analysis, risk control and mitigation, and the development of ALARP statements.
  • Development, management and presentation of safety cases for SEA products.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers on a on factors within the design ad work closely with Engineers from System, Electronic, Software and Mechanical Engineering.

The skills you need

  • You will have proven experience working in a Safety Management Environment ideal with an MoD background or experience of working in the MoD domain.
  • Be able to produce clear and concise technical safety documentation.
  • Preferably have experience in working with UK MoD ASEMS processes and procedures for their safety systems and projects and familiarity with Def Stan 00-056 Safety Management.
  • SSMO Qualified or similar training would be a bonus.
  • This work will involve sensitive information so you must be able to obtain security clearance and have a full driving licence.
