NW Trading has been operating for 25 years. The Company was started on 1st July 1999 in Birkenhead, by a local businessman, who still retains a 100% shareholding in the business.
We currently operate out of several major UK ports including Birkenhead on the West Coast and Hull and Goole on the East Coast. We also have an office in Bristol offering Shipping Agency services and a small chartering office in London.
We provide a comprehensive range of services to importers and exporters and handle a wide variety of cargo including biomass, wheat, steel, MDF, chemicals, sand, animal feed and fertilizers.
Our management team has a combined experience of over 150 years in Shipping, Warehousing and Logistics.

Bristol Port
Due to rapid expansion in our Bristol Office, we are looking to expand our Agency Team. The Shipping Agent is a key role in the business, catering to any and all requirements of a Ship from the time it leaves its loading Port until full discharge of the Vessel at destination Port.
The Role:
Role responsibilities will include:
- Compiling accurate costs for Ship arrivals in port under our Agency
- Checking berth availability for vessels
- Arranging and checking relevant documentation for Port authorities / Customs authorities.
- Liaison with all relevant Port services to allow timely bookings / arrangements (Dockmaster / Pilotage / Boatman)
- Liaison with stevedores to allow efficient loading / discharge of the Ship.
- Maintaining communications with Ships captain
- Ongoing communications with Ship Owners and Cargo Owners to enable forward planning of vessels.
Skills Required:
We are keen to speak to experienced shipping agents or candidates with some logistics experience who are looking for a change of direction or sector focus. We will also consider dynamic and ambitious candidates who feel they have the core skills and are committed to be trained to deliver a best in class service to our customers. The key skills needed are
- An ability to work independently but also operate as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the audience.
- Excellent Organizational Skills.
- Excellent Customer Service skills with the ability to forge relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Good working knowledge of all MS Office packages including Teams, SharePoint, and others.
