Job Title: Senior Planning Consultant
Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working)

The Company

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading Multidisciplinary Consultancy who are looking to appoint a skilled Senior Planning Consultant to join a growing team in Manchester.

The Role:

As a Senior Planning Consultant with, you will provide expert planning consultancy services to a diverse range of clients in the public, private, and third sectors. This role will see you leading on planning applications, site promotions, and appeals, while also managing project budgets and financial data. You will work closely with clients and colleagues, preparing planning applications, drafting Planning Statements, and undertaking site visits. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and provide planning advice across the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planning consultancy services to a varied client base, ensuring high standards in all project outputs.
  • Lead and manage planning projects, including applications, site promotions, and appeals.
  • Oversee project budgets, invoicing, and contract-specific financial data.
  • Review and provide feedback on technical reports.
  • Prepare planning applications, including drafting Planning Statements and conducting site visits.
  • Liaise with technical consultants, statutory consultees, and Planning Officers.
  • Offer planning advice to colleagues and clients, providing mentoring as needed.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Formal qualification in Town Planning (Masters/Postgraduate/Degree).
  • Membership: Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility for full Chartered Membership.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in planning consultancy, preferably within the private sector.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Town & Country Planning regulations, both in planning policy and development management.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work flexibly in terms of work type, timing, and location.
  • Requirements: A full driving license is essential.
