What is the purpose of the Sales Manager?

The Sales Manager will be integral in protecting and growing the revenue of the organization. They will manage the sales process end-to-end and oversee subsequent sales operations. This individual will direct, coach, and mentor the Sales Team to achieve combined successes. They will develop, refine, and implement the strategic sales plan and nurture customer relationships to further support the growth of the company's revenue operations. Additionally, they will undertake benchmarking exercises to ensure the company's pricing plans align with industry best standards and remain competitive.

What are the responsibilities for the Sales Manager?

General:

  • Uphold and endorse a deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment.
  • Maintain strong leadership skills and seek new knowledge as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Operations, Planning, and EHS.
  • Drive continual improvement and represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences and networking opportunities where

Team:

  • Conduct monthly one-on-one performance reviews.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to achieve goals.
  • Deliver annual appraisals for direct reports and set actions and goals.
  • Coach the team to adopt and implement sales principles.
  • Align the sales team with the Sales Strategy and foster a positive team environment.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff.

Analytics:

  • Provide full visibility of the sales pipeline.
  • Use data and metrics to back up assumptions and inform actions.

Sales Centric:

  • Understand inbound lead requirements to achieve Sales Objectives.
  • Develop processes for reach-out, onboarding, activation, and expansion.
  • Keep growth at the forefront of all plans.
  • Research sales principles, new markets, and industry changes.
  • Analyze churn and take actions to promote retention.
  • Review and adjust customer pricing annually.
  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify expansion and improvement areas.

Clients:

  • Establish and foster client relationships.
  • Deliver account management with the Sales Team and provide feedback to relevant teams.
  • Act as the central point of contact for client concerns and performance feedback.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and seek new ways to solve client issues.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and provide informed advice.

What Skills and Qualifications will you need as the the Sales Manager?

Education:

  • A relevant degree or similar experience in business administration, management, sales, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within sales or business development.
  • Proven track record of managing sales strategies and operations.
  • Deep understanding of sales processes and best practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and using metrics to inform decision-making.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications in sales or business management (advantageous but not mandatory).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in sales and customer relationship management (CRM) tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with KPI implementation and analysis.

  • Experience in mentoring and coaching staff.
