Job Title: Therapy Assistant

Location: UK-West Yorkshire-Wakefield

Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour, depending on skills and experience (£19,370.70 to £21,122.66 actual annual salary)

Hours: 37 hours per week - Term time only

As a Therapy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the implementation of Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, and Positive Behaviour Support interventions. This position is based in a Specialist SEN secondary school setting, where you will enable students to achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives. Day to Day of the role:

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCo, and the Management Team to understand student needs and develop effective interventions.
  • Implement and review therapy interventions as identified by the Therapy Team and as outlined in students' EHCPs.
  • Conduct occupational therapy interventions, sensory, and creative activities, including therapeutic art.
  • Develop student profiles in partnership with the therapy team.
  • Employ integrated 'Push in' methods in the classroom and conduct 1:1 or small group sessions when necessary.
  • Liaise with teaching staff and the therapy team to ensure best practice throughout the curriculum.
  • Deliver therapeutic support as advised by the therapy team and engage in relevant training for professional development.
  • Adapt to varying duties and assist wherever required within the school setting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a specialist setting or working with young people in education, particularly those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience running interventions with measurable impact (desirable).
  • Recognised Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Strong desire to make a difference to young people.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing.
