Standard Car Pricing Manager: Ageas are seeking an experienced Standard Car Pricing Manager to join and lead a dynamic team in the London office.
The Standard Car Pricing Manager will have responsibility for planning, completing and presenting all risk pricing activity relating to the Standard Car products within the Ageas portfolio. These products cover the core of the private car market, with the majority of business traded through aggregators across the Broker and Direct channels. The role holder will have a direct influence on the future growth and profitability of these products, and will work with the other Pricing Managers in the team (Non-Standard Car, Bike, Van and Home) to ensure our continued success across all product lines.

The role will involve managing and guiding a team of analysts to complete detailed analysis using advanced statistical and actuarial techniques with the purpose of recommending pricing actions that increase volume and profitability of the Standard Car products. In addition, the Pricing Manager will act to build pricing capability and core skills across the Risk Pricing function, as well as influencing the strategic direction of Risk Pricing within the wider Ageas UK Group.

Main Responsibilities as Standard Car Pricing Manager:

  • Management, development and coaching of your team of Lead Pricing Analysts, Senior Pricing Analysts and Pricing Analysts
  • Engage with the pricing deployments team to manage model / rate change deployments as required. Manage the communication of change timelines back to all relevant stakeholder groups
  • Maintain knowledge of wider external environment and feed developments back into in Ageas' pricing strategy
  • Develop a balanced view of current and future pricing performance by combining MI, modelling results and company targets
  • Maintenance of records to coordinate pricing decisions and implementation across teams, decision making bodies and implementation pathways

To be successful in being considered for the Standard Car Pricing Manager you will need the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Relevant experience within insurance pricing
  • Highly skilled in the use of programming language (e.g. SAS) to manipulate data.
  • Experienced in the use of another programming language (e.g. R, Matlab, Python or Octave)
  • Knowledge/Experience of some of the following predictive modelling techniques e.g. Logistic Regression, Log-Gamma GLMs, GBMs, Elastic Net GLMs, GAMs, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Support Vector Machines and Neural Nets
  • Experience in using Emblem and Radar
  • Experience of using analytics to solve complex business problems.
  • Effective coaching of junior staff and development of pricing skills.
  • Experience of dealing with and influencing colleagues at all levels up to, and including, senior management and directors.
