Electrical Compliance Engineer

QUALITY / COMPLIANCE ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION:

Fantastic opportunity to join an established Manufacturer, in the Poole area. The successful Compliance Engineer will ideally have come from an Electronics / Electrical Engineering background, and have gained experience in quality testing and compliance. Product training will be provided, but the ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate transferable skills, so experience in this area is essential.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementation and management of an effective legal compliance program – focusing on International safety standards relating to machinery equipment.
  • Act as the company expert and technical authority for legislative compliance and product safety, resolving employee concerns and educating the team on the latest regulations and associated design philosophies.
  • Carry out detailed testing on all new products and existing products where required and generate reports for use in manuals and other documentation.
  • Maintain and update approvals / certifications on units to latest relevant standards
  • Ensure all parts used within products are compliant with the relevant directives and standards such as RoHS, REACH, TSCA etc.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current worldwide compliance regulations
  • Assume responsibility for UL/METlabs inspections and approvals, and carry out corrective actions where required
  • Produce product level risk assessments to ISO 12100
  • Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risk.
  • Support continual improvement of compliance delivery with regard to time, cost and quality

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A good understanding of Health & Safety standards, with particular focus on electronics and electrical installations
  • Ability to understand schematic diagrams and electronic component function
  • Understanding of machinery directives
  • Document writing and reporting experience - essential
  • PAT and Flash testing experience, as well as general electrics (including 3 phase systems)
  • Certificates of conformance would be ideal but not essential
  • Meticulous, methodical approach to work
  • Technically minded, analytical and logical, with strong communication skills
