Job Title: Catering / Food Service Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Catering / Food Service Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation and serving of attractive, healthy, varied meals for students, staff, and visitors.

The suitable candidate will serve lunch to all girls, some suffering with serious allergies. Knowledge of the 14 legal allergens is essential. The successful candidate will also be responsible for cleaning the main dining room after service.

This post is available part time, term time only, working 21.25 hours, five days a week and is a potential temp to perm placement.

Start Date: 3rd September 2024

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Cooks / Chefs in food preparation and other related duties in a safe and hygienic manner.
  2. Serve the correct portions of food and beverages at the designated times to staff, pupils, and visitors in a professional, polite, and efficient manner.
  3. Assist with service at school functions and events.
  4. Maintain cleanliness of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, catering and dining areas, and equipment.
  5. Assist with the unloading, movement, and correct storage of food goods and stores, ensuring HACCP checks are undertaken and recorded.
  6. Report defects, maintenance requirements, damage, or other concerns immediately to the Cook / Chef in Charge.
  7. Update catering skills and knowledge of food hygiene, food allergens, and catering health and safety through appropriate in-service and external training programs as required.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Basic food-handling skills are essential.
  • Understanding of general catering health and safety requirements is essential.
  • Experience of food preparation in a commercial/education environment is desirable.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Allergen Awareness, Food Hygiene, and Health and Safety is desirable.
