Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted rated "Good" Primary School in Runcorn as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to support 6 pupils across Years 1 - 3 with SEMH. This is a long-term booking required due to internal sickness. This school have already confirmed that they will be looking for someone for the next academic year.
Your new role
In your new role as a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will be supporting 6 children across Years 1 to 3. You will be working with these children on a 1:1 basis, encouraging them to partake in learning material and managing their behaviours. You will take a trauma centred approach to their support and use a myriad of positive behaviour techniques such as distraction, de-escalation, reflection, and taking them out of the classroom as required. As these pupils are on EHCP's you will be required to liaise with the SENCO on their progress.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have recent referenceable experience working with children and young people as well as:
- Previous experience working with SEMH
- An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not eseential
