Location: Stafford - Hybrid

Duration: 4 Months

Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Officer to join our reputable public sector organisation based in Stafford.

The Senior Payroll Office will be responsible for the effective production of the group's payroll including the support of the payroll officers. The Senior Payroll Officer will assist the Payroll Manager with key projects and provide technical support to meet the demands of the service and business.

Responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Officer are:

  • Support the payroll officers in the accurate delivery of the all payroll's under the organisation, making any relevant adjustments where necessary
  • Work with the People Services to ensure that all relevant information regarding starters and leavers and other adjustments to employees pay
  • Be responsible for ensuring all employee-related expenses claims are accurately coded and authorised with all the necessary supporting documentation
  • Ensure the payroll is administered within the statutory and regulatory requirements for payroll production
  • Support the payroll officers in responding to all payroll queries from internal and external stakeholders and support with any escalated or critical matters
  • Support the payroll officers in co-ordinating any group wide salary increases
  • Calculate, process and reconcile annual pay reviews for all employees
  • Support the payroll team during the audit of the payroll, co-ordinating data requests
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll and pension legislations
  • Support the payroll manager with regards to system upgrades, ensure testing is completed and raised any issues with the service provider
  • Prepare, and present reports as necessary

The Senior Payroll Officer ideally should have:

  • Experience of working in a payroll team and processing payroll from start to finish
  • CIPP Qualification or equivalent payroll qualification
  • Up to date knowledge of statutory requirements and legislation relating to payroll and pensions

The Senior Payroll Officer will need to have excellent communication skills and effectively be able to communicate to stakeholders of all levels. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have an impeccable eye for detail and accuracy to ensure all workload is carried out effectively and efficiently.
