Hours: Monday to Friday, full time
The role is responsible for managing the financial resources, maintaining the integrity of accounting records, and producing both statutory accounts and management information.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accounts: Prepare detailed financial accounts and information for inclusion in the Financial Statements and various reports. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Analysis and Interpretation: Review and analyse financial data, providing insights and actionable recommendations to senior management.
- Accounting & Reconciliation: Maintain the accuracy of balance sheet codes, reconcile accounts, and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Year-End Audit: Prepare information for external auditors and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Systems Development & Support: Manage the operation of the General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Inventory, and Grants modules. Provide expert support through the functional helpdesk.
- Best Practice: Promote best practices in accounting and financial processes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Section Support: Collaborate with team members and provide cover for other areas within Central and Research Accounting.
Person Specification
- Substantial experience in a finance function for a large and complex organisation.
- Experience in preparing complex accounts and financial and management reporting.
- Proficiency in using computerised accounting systems and reporting tools.
- Experience in overseeing financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and excellent communication skills.
