MERITUS are recruiting for a contract Beckhoff Engineer to join our client on an initial 12 month contract from their site in Derby to work on a security cleared project.

BECKHOFF ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - £45 PER HOUR - UNDERGO SC CLEARANCE - 12 MONTHS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW - DERBY

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop PLC/SCADA systems based on customer specifications.
  • Program PLC control systems and configure SCADA systems from provided designs.
  • Participate in the entire software/systems lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, installation, configuration, and documentation.
  • Create design and test specifications in compliance with QA procedures.
  • Conduct installation, configuration, and testing at customer sites.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree or HND in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to work effectively within a combined client/contractor team.
  • Proven experience in producing design documentation and test specifications.
  • Willingness to travel and work off-site as required.
  • Proficiency in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 PLC programming, specifically using IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
  • Familiarity with unit testing, Agile methodologies, and version control software (e.g., Git).
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance.
  • A valid driving license.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the project lifecycle in engineering contexts.
  • Hands-on experience in PLC system design, coding, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience in SCADA system design, configuration, and commissioning.
  • Previous experience working in the Nuclear Industry.
