Salary: £46,000 to £51,000 per annum, plus 8% bonus and benefits.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (flexibility required)
Location: Commutable from Barton upon Humber, Immingham, Hull, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Grimsby and surrounding areas

We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing company who are looking for a Production Manager to work within their fast moving production environment. It's an opportunity for someone with experience to get their teeth into, to help drive and improve standards, structure and efficiency in the factory.

Responsibilities

This role is to manage and oversee the Production Department for the site and across 3 factories. This includes 35 production staff approx. made up of 6 Team Leaders and 5 Deputies and 25 Production Operators in this fast paced factory environment. Focusing on team performance, promoting and driving structure and routine, change management, continuous improvements, KPI's, strategic planning and budget control.

This role would suit someone who is motivated and excited by challenges and sees them as opportunities to make an impact and bring forward their experience and ideas to make the required changes and improvements. The role requires a "hands on" attitude with strong and experienced leadership skills to inspire, motivate and drive the team forward in achieving production objectives. You will also be responsible for driving of continuous improvements, ideally with the use and experience of lean manufacturing methodologies for Production Staff and Department to reach their full potential.

  • Deliver production targets; volume / yield / waste reduction
  • Lead and organise a team to ensure optimal plant performance
  • Ensure the safety of all site personnel at all times
  • Have an excellent knowledge of the plant and process to help make informed decisions
  • Manage within budgetary cost constraints, notably; overtime, materials etc
  • Support and promote a continual improvement culture in line with objectives
  • Effective communication with other departments and stakeholders at all times
  • Ensure that all materials and equipment are available when required; i.e. materials / PPE etc
  • Identify training gaps and requirements of staff and provide the best action, to ensure they receive it.
  • Investigate any accidents, injuries or near misses within 24 hours and communicate to all relevant parties

Requirements

Experienced in similar role, specifically in a production and/or manufacturing environment, working in a department management role and leading production teams.
Strong communicator and influencer, ability to talk to people of all levels and inspire them
Familiar with structure and process, who can confidently establish root causes and problems and eradicate them
Experienced in overcoming typical staff and management issues such as absences, return to work etc.
Skilled in performance management and have a structured approach
Proven track record in providing continuous improvements successfully.
Experience of lean manufacturing techniques and methods would be advantageous. Six Sigma would be highly desirable.
Strong management skills who can effectively engage, listen, motivate, guide and direct a teams.
Any qualifications in a relevant field is advantageous, such as business, engineering, production or technical - most & any considered, or equivalent experience
NEBOSH OR IOSH would be advantageous.
