Our client, one of the UK's most prestigious and successful interiors brands, is looking for a Head of Operations to join them! Specialising in award-winning contemporary furniture and lighting and known for excellent service standards and exceptional customer experience, they deliver high-quality designs and craftsmanship.

As they continue their steady growth, they are seeking a proactive and energetic Head of Operations to join their leadership team and contribute significantly to their expansion, both domestically and internationally.

Leading across three core areas - systems, inventory, and fulfilment - the Head of Operations will ensure clean data management and seamless integration across the business. The ideal candidate will optimise systems and stock variations, maintaining a well-organised stock and fulfilment system for seamless operations and customer satisfaction.

This role requires a hands-on approach, especially during peak seasons and holiday covers, and the ability to plan complex product shipments. Strong experience with systems is essential, e.g. understanding stock maps and API transfers between inventory systems and platforms such as Shopify.

With at least three years of senior operations and logistics experience, you will have led robust operations that result in excellent customer experiences. You will be positive, energetic, and instrumental in delivering sustainable growth, ensuring the business excels in customer fulfilment and product availability. This role offers significant potential for future development as the business grows.

Role overview for this Head of Operations role:

  • Ensuring all logistical, fulfilment and stock operations are fit for purpose and optimised for manageable growth.
  • Managing stock holding, stock check and stock security.
  • Ensuring risk & loss to the business is monitored & commercially balanced.
  • Collaborating with other heads of departments to drive operational improvements across all areas of the business.

Systems and Data:

  • Ownership of sales and inventory system and processes (Workhorse), ensuring accuracy, optimisation, and integration.
  • Daily updates and oversight of data transfer to Google Sheet dashboard.
  • Development and maintenance of internal reporting structures for key operational metrics.
  • Ownership of Shopify integration and stock reflection.
  • Continuous development of operational data systems to support business growth.

Inventory and Warehousing:

  • Responsibility for secure stock control and inventory management across all warehouse spaces.
  • Design and implementation of stock management strategies.
  • Monthly/quarterly in-person stock checks, ensuring director-level adjustment sign-off and system reconciliation.
  • Lead team to ensure accurate stock control and movement.
  • Regular alignment checks between the warehouse portal and internal inventory records.

3rd Party Delivery & Customer Fulfilment:

  • Cost negotiation and account setup for 3rd party delivery companies.
  • Drive sales fulfilment targets and reporting.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and third-party providers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
  • Implement operational improvements to enhance logistics processes.

Purchasing:

  • Track and report product purchasing and stock holding.
  • Work with the Head of Merchandising to review stock strategy and optimise inventory.
  • Oversee component and packaging ordering and stock control management.
  • Drive offsite storage efficiency and ensure customer storage requirements are costed appropriately.

E-commerce:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve operational performance to build channel
  • Manage the fulfilment team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment.
  • Monitor customer experience and address issues related to order fulfilment.
  • Own and perfect returns flow
  • Design and implement future Shopify territory expansion and multiple stock locations for ecomms expansion.

Key Skills Need in this Role:

  • Excellent experience working within a senior operations position, within a consumer products business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced mentoring manager, capable of managing up and down.
  • Strategic thinker with attention to detail.
  • Positive, motivated, and a natural problem solver.
  • Able to manage a varied workload under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in data analytics and reporting.
  • Savvy with inventory and retail management systems.
  • Confident in owning and implementing projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Apple Mac, and Google Suite.
  • Passion for furniture and creative spaces is ideal but not essential.
