Housing Support Worker

Are you looking for a role where you can support people return to independence?

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Housing Support Worker to provide practical advice, information, and support on a range of issues including tenancy sustainment, education, employment, life skills, and the promotion of personal independence.

The role also involves supporting service users to improve their mental health, manage physical health problems, or address substance misuse if required, and maintaining exemplary, safe, and well-maintained housing for service users.

Housing Support Worker

  • Hourly Rate: £12.00 per hour plus holiday pay
  • Location: Southend-on-Sea
  • Hours: Full-Time on a Rota basis, including early, late and weekend shifts
  • Temp to Perm

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Ensure residents receive a welcoming, supportive, and positive experience, adjusting to a home environment and settled way of life.
  • Support the team in managing a caseload, key working service users, and undertaking assessments, support plans, and reviews.
  • Build warm and positive relationships with service users, always keeping the individual's best interests at heart.
  • Work alongside team members to deliver a package of support individually tailored for each resident.
  • Conduct health & safety checks within our buildings in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Enable residents to retain their accommodation, prevent evictions, and assist residents ready to move on.
  • Show flexibility and positivity to undertake any reasonable requests from management to aid the organisation in achieving its aims.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Patience, politeness, and resilience.
  • Ability to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays on a shared rota.
  • IT skills at a level to effectively use email, internet, and database systems.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements and best practice guidance relating to homelessness is desirable.
  • Experience of applying Health & Safety guidance is desirable.
  • Minimum 6 months' experience dealing with the general public face to face, over the telephone, or via email.
  • Ability to cope with challenging situations calmly, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Self-motivation and the confidence to work alone but also co-operatively and flexibly as part of a team.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (Adults), Housing, IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance), or any other related qualification is desirable.
