Part-Time Head of Finance

This forward-thinking educational organisation is currently seeking a Head of Finance to join their lovely team on a part-time basis. Managing a small team, you will be responsible for all things finance for all entities within the Trust, whilst also being a key member of the senior leadership team, enabling the organisation to deliver on targets and make more financially informed decisions.

The key duties of this Part-Time Head of Finance role are as follows:

  • Play a key role in the annual budget setting process, liaising with the key stakeholders across all entities within the group.
  • Attend biweekly senior management team meetings, providing valuable insights into the financial performance of the trust and offering advice on actions moving forward.
  • Work in close cooperation with external auditors at year end and in the production of Monitor and control financial performance, addressing significant variances.
  • the financial statements.
  • Manage financial systems efficiently and ensure the effective implementation of financial controls.
  • Take the lead in the timely preparation of the monthly management accounts and presentation of these to Trustees.
  • Ensure the continua update of the five-year rolling and in-year forecasts.

This is an exceptional role for someone who is either a well-rounded finance professional looking to step into a number one role, or who is has a strong background in financial management and is looking to learn the ropes of a more varied role. The hiring manager is willing to invest in someone ambitious, providing exceptional opportunities for skills enhancement and development! Furthermore, this role will officially be based out of their offices near Chingford, and the client is willing to negotiate working hours and patterns with the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable track record in managing a finance function to a high standard.
  • Ideally, a background working within a school setting, although this is not essential.
  • A strong background in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with staff at all levels, including Trustees.
  • Experience of at least supervising a small team.
  • Ideally, exposure to working with auditors and financial statements, but this can be trained.
