Substance Misuse Nurse

Posted by Atlantis Medical.

One of our leading NHS clients is looking for experienced mental health nurses with expertise in Substance Misuse. This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic and passionate Substance Misuse Nurse to help shape the trust's vision in providing clinical services to individuals affected by drugs and alcohol.

Description:

The post holder will primarily be responsible for providing the Op Courage veterans hubs and patients with substance misuse and addictions expertise. They will offer psychoeducational and low-level support with coping skills, supporting the veteran through a period of stabilization as needed. Crucially, the post holder will engage local substance misuse services and support engagement with these services to establish robust care pathways.

Where veterans with substance misuse/addiction needs may be low risk, the post holder will work with the hubs' caseloads to provide, for example, coordination of care needs, assessment, planning, and implementation of evidence-based care to a defined group of service users and their carers within the service catchment area.

The post holder will provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multi-disciplinary team. The role involves working within the urgent and non-urgent pathways for Midlands Op Courage and other appropriate services across the area of responsibility.

This is a community-based post providing initial and continuing assessment of the mental health needs of military veterans, ensuring that an agreed package of care is implemented, reflecting the Trust's policy to engage service users and their carers in all aspects of their care and treatment.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health)
