Commissioning Services Engineer

PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide on-site assistance for commissioning of lighting control systems and rectification works. This includes ensuring the proper installation, functionality, and performance of lighting control systems to meet customer requirements and industry standards. The role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, offering expert guidance and support to clients, and contributing to the continuous improvement of products and services. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for maintaining detailed project records, generating necessary documentation, and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders to facilitate the successful completion of projects. The role aims to enhance customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service, ensuring system reliability, and providing timely solutions to any challenges that arise during the commissioning and post-commissioning phases.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Commissioning of lighting control systems across the UK.
  • Liaise with customers to advise on installation, connection, and fault finding on all lighting control systems.
  • Arrange site visits with relevant parties, from contractors to end users, to enable timely and effective commissioning of all control systems or site rectification work.
  • Keep active records on all projects to enable generation of commissioning certificates upon satisfactory completion of the commissioning process, and ensure all relevant invoicing is carried out.
  • Report back on all issues relating to product defects/performance issues, and actively advise on improvements.
  • Carry out any other tasks delegated by the Site Services Manager or the Senior Commissioning Engineer.
  • Organise day-to-day on-site workload.
  • Provide training and support to junior engineers or new team members.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies during all on-site activities.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks and provide preventive maintenance services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to foster trust and ensure high levels of satisfaction.

Preferable Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge in lighting control systems.
  • Experience in installing, commissioning, and maintaining lighting and emergency lighting installations.
  • Logical thinker with the ability to plan and remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and customer service skills.
  • Computer literate and familiar with using Microsoft Office suites as well as bespoke stock checking/technical programs.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Certification in electrical or electronic engineering is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to lighting control systems.
