Purchase Ledger Assistant

A really exciting opportunity has come up for an up and coming Accountant who is looking to build on their current experience. We are currently working with a really exciting hospitality business based just outside the Birmingham City Centre to recruit for a Purchase Ledger Assistant position on a temporary basis. This temporary role will be for a minimum of 6 months, however it is very much a case of get in there, show them what you can do and this role could lead to more.
Ideally we are looking for someone who has previously worked in Purchase Ledger, having had exposure to invoicing, statement reconciliations, preparation for payment runs and query resolution and someone who has a minimum of roughly 12 months experience doing this.
Due to the temporary nature of this role, please only apply if you are immediately available or on a short notice period (one week).

Key responsibilities:

  • Processing a high volume amount of invoices, matching these invoices with purchase order numbers.
  • Reconciling supplier statements.
  • Preparing for payment runs on weekly and monthly basis, with ad-hoc payments as well.
  • Resolving invoice queries.
  • Assisting with costing reviews on a quarterly basis.
  • Reviewing aged creditors and working with the Head of Finance to reduce these.
  • Liaising with the Head of Finance to review invoices that could be posted as accruals and prepayments, chasing details when information is missing.
  • Other ad-hoc support to the Head o ff Finance.

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Have previously worked within an Purchase Ledger role, with a minimum of ideally 12 months.
  • Have the opportunity to take on an exciting, in depth amount of Purchase Ledger experience which will provide exposure to more senior responsibilities - allowing you to grow!
  • Be someone who sees themselves as a team player who is eager to chip in to get a joint task done.
  • Be immediately available, or on a short notice period (one week) as this role is needing to begin quite quickly!
