  • Performing technical task management of junior engineers and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Ideally the successful candidate will have the drive, technical aptitude, and personality to eventually develop into a more senior position.

Purpose of Role:

  • To analyse a range of hypersonic vehicles for flight, aerodynamic, aerothermal, and material response performance using a suite of bespoke trajectory, CFD and thermal solvers.
  • Apply engineering models, semi-empirical codes, and high-fidelity codes to solve complex coupled problems.
  • Understand the behaviour of high-temperature thermal protection systems materials, model their performance, and influence ground and flight-testing programmes.
  • To evaluate the on-going development of bespoke analysis tools, and to contribute to validation and verification efforts.
  • To mentor junior team members and track their delivery against project demands.
  • To liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, contractors, peers, and the wider analysis team, including face-to-face meetings, writing technical reports, and delivering presentations.
  • Engage in or lead academic collaborations to enhance experimental validation, new designs, and advanced numerical methods.
  • There will be opportunity to work with peer organisations in the UK and internationally.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Flight and/or re-entry dynamics

  • Experimental Aerodynamics

  • Toolset development and V&V

  • High-temperature material response

  • Ability to solve problems in making computational models and methods work.

  • Ability to produce and present clear and concise reports and presentations for customers, peers, programme management, and external meetings.
