Overview of a Brokerage Officer

Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Brokerage Officer to join an expanding team. The role of Brokerage Officer has a competitive pay rate of £16.86 per hour. Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).The Main Purpose of a Brokerage Officer:

  • The purpose of the role is to enable safe and secure placements for vulnerable adults and children that best meets the identified outcomes for individuals highlighted in their support plan.
  • To develop working relationships with existing providers and gain an understanding of their capabilities and specialties.
  • To demonstrate a commitment to the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy and the ability to understand and implement the policy in relation to the job responsibilities.
  • To ensure compliance with your responsibilities as laid out in the council's health and safety policy and take an active role in promoting a positive health and safety culture.
  • To promote and participate in the council's individual performance appraisal and development initiatives and information management best practice.
  • To ensure compliance with the council's information security policies and maintain confidentiality.
  • In accordance with the Immigration Act 2016, where the role is customer-facing and the post holder is required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

About you, the successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of utilising Mosaic to make placements
  • Detailed knowledge of Adult Social Care services, such as residential and nursing and Children with disabilities as well as domiciliary and reablement care.
  • Knowledge of the provision services for young adults with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of providers that reside within Harrow.
  • Ability to identify key elements of a quality service.
  • An understanding of provider spot contract and requirement specification.
  • Overall appreciation of how Adult Social Care service operates.
  • Experience in Brokerage and securing appropriate high quality support packages that meet individual needs.
  • Negotiating with providers to undertake package to agreed dates.
  • Awareness of Service Specification requirement and reasonable level of contractual requirements.
  • Engagement with providers on service issues/failures and complaints.
  • Able to identify a quality providers and areas of specialism.
  • Developed Negotiating Skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
