Your new role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing components for large-scale automated warehousing solutions. You will utilise the SolidWorks CAD package to design concepts and prepare detailed drawings for part and assembly design. Your responsibilities will include understanding customer requirements and converting them into efficient engineering deliverables, liaising with customers during design reviews and meetings, and producing comprehensive engineering documents. You will be authorised to drawing sign-off and will communicate project specifications with relevant departments. Additionally, you will support the manufacturing phase, create and modify 3D models, and provide guidance to other engineers. You will lead the design effort, working on both product refinement and the development of new products, and spearhead the R&D effort for new and refined products within the business.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need a third-level relevant qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, along with 5-10 years of experience in a design role. Proficiency in the SolidWorks CAD package is essential. You should have experience in full research and design of products from concept to customer, and the ability to organise all product parts efficiently. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial, as is a background in problem-solving techniques and R&D.
