Lecturer in Functional Skills - HMP The Verne

Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the Southwest of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated Lecturer in Functional Skills to join the team at HMP The Verne.

This is a part-time role working 31.45 hours per week.

Day to day duties

  • Organisation and administrative work.
  • Developing and maintaining a full course file including comprehensive scheme of learning and lesson planning
  • Developing and completing ILPs and contextual statements to monitor individual learner progress.
  • Accurately completing registers, learner enrolments and completions.

Required skills and qualifications

  • A Degree, or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work.
  • Must possess, or be willing to work towards, a recognised Teaching Qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies.
  • Excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills.

HMP The Verne

HMP The Verne, a Category C men's prison on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, prioritises education through partnerships with Weston College and the Open University. Residents can access a robust curriculum, which includes distance learning and courses like painting, decorating, and construction.
