Project Manager

Posted by National Trust.

Summary

As part of our Urban Places and Everyone Welcome strategies, we're exploring ways to improve access to local heritage and green spaces in urban areas. In the East of England, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to establish a new operation at Great Yarmouth Winter Gardens (GYWG). Owned by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, GYWG is an iconic part of the physical landscape and cultural memory of Great Yarmouth and is currently undergoing an £18m capital project to restore it as a multifunctional indoor garden and destination.

What it's like to work here

You'll be part of the Trust's internal consultancy: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you'll be working with others to help make things happen.

As this role covers the Midlands and East of England region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home. While the project is based in Great Yarmouth you won't be expected to be located there but will have occasional meetings in the town. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We'll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

What you'll be doing

As Project Manager, you'll be accountable for developing National Trust's tender to operate Great Yarmouth Winter Gardens. Key responsibilities include building and facilitating a strong relationship with Great Yarmouth Borough Council, working with internal consultants and operational colleagues and engaging with key commercial and legal aspects to refine the operational model. You'll be collating and submitting the formal procurement response on behalf of NT, engaging with senior leadership for feedback and approvals and facilitating any negotiations with the Borough Council as part of the procurement exercise. You'll need to support good project governance and manage internal and external stakeholders, acting as an advocate for the Trust and the project as required.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • able to demonstrate experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/programmes
  • a Professional with technical knowledge and skills in project management demonstrated by a recognised project (AMP PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification
  • able to evidence ongoing CPD in your career to date
  • you're a flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions with senior leaders
  • a skilled communicator, with experience of managing complex and challenging situations with competing interests and a diverse range of people
  • a leader for inclusion, who finds ways to create an inclusive culture
  • able to inspire others with good business sense and express this clearly and persuasively
