Location: Middlesbrough

Salary: up to £32,389 Per Annum

Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week

Annual Leave: 30 Per Annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme

Job Purpose:

The Engineering Scholarship Programme Coordinator is responsible for managing and growing the college's scholarship programme. This includes working closely with business engagement teams in cultivating and maintaining relationships with industry partners to secure scholarship opportunities, promoting these opportunities internally to students, and overseeing the scholarship application and selection process. The role aims to ensure that deserving students have access to financial scholarship support and that the scholarship programme aligns with institutional goals and enhances student employability and positive progression

Key Responsibilities

Scholarship Programme Coordination:

  • Oversee the administration of the directorate's scholarship programme, ensuring it aligns with institutional goals and student needs.
  • Promote scholarship opportunities to current and prospective students.
  • Coordinate the scholarship application and selection process, including reviewing applications, organising selection committees, and communicating decisions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with sponsors to help secure future scholarship opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of scholarships on student success and program outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional policies related to scholarships.

Operational Employer Liaison:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local employers to support the scholarship programme and enhance student employability.
  • Organise and facilitate employer-led talks, workshops, activities, and networking events for students.
  • Coordinate industry visits, guest lectures, and mentorship programmes to provide students with real-world insights and professional guidance.
  • Gather and analyse feedback from employers to continuously improve the relevance of the curriculum and student preparedness.
  • Track and monitor student engagement activities using college based systems such as Pro-engage and GroFar.

Teaching & Student Scholarship Support:

  • Plan, teach, and assess technical engineering based subjects up to Level 3, aligned with your personal discipline and technical competence, to support the department's teaching needs when required.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance and support to students seeking scholarships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities in the engineering and construction sectors.
  • Assist students in navigating the scholarship application process, including helping them prepare application materials and understand eligibility requirements.
  • Conduct workshops and information sessions to educate students about available scholarships, application deadlines, and tips for successful applications.
  • Promote professional development opportunities to enhance student employability and career readiness.
  • Offer one-on-one advising sessions to help students develop career plans, prepare for job interviews, and connect with industry mentors.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify students who may benefit from additional support and resources related to their academic and career goals.
  • Track and monitor the progress of scholarship recipients to ensure they meet the programme requirements and to measure the impact of scholarships on their academic and career success.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages students to pursue their academic and professional goals with confidence.

Requirements

  • Educated to Level 3 or above in an engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Relevant work-based experience in an industrial engineering environment - design,

project management, manufacturing or production-based role.

  • Proven experience in employer engagement, partnership development, or a related role within education or the engineering sector.
