Head of FP&A

The Head of FP&A will provide expert guidance to enhance financial performance and deliver insights that influence key decisions. You must have solid scenario planning experience within a large (ideally listed) business to be consider for this position.

You will possess strong commercial awareness and meticulous attention to detail, which will be used to identify opportunities to enhance the Group's performance for the benefit of customers, employees, and investors.

Main Duties

  1. Business Performance:
  • Conduct detailed assessments of financial plans, identifying associated risks and opportunities.

  • Support divisions in improving profitability, cash flow, and operational performance.

  • Deliver insightful reporting and analysis to support major decision-making.

  • Optimise reporting systems to provide value-added insights.

  1. Strategic Planning:
  • Maintain the Group's strategic plan financial model.

  • Conduct scenario planning and what-if analysis.

  1. Investment Appraisal and Review of Significant Commercial Proposals and Bids:
  • Perform high-quality "second line" reviews in accordance with the Group's control framework.

  • Maintain the Group's commercial bids pipeline.

  • Conduct post-investment appraisals.

  1. Business Partner to Corporate Functions:
  • Supervise financial planning and reporting for Group cost centres.

  • Oversee IT finance for the wider Group.

  • Support the Reward team in setting and reporting targets, and preparing papers for the Remuneration Committee.

  • Provide financial support for M&A transactions as needed to the Head of Strategic M&A and Growth.

  1. Support the Development of the Group Finance Function

Behaviours, Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  1. Qualified accountant with extensive FP&A experience.
  2. Solid Scenario Planning experience within a large listed business
  3. Significant breadth and depth of experience in financial and business performance management.
  4. Proven ability and confidence to engage with peers and senior leaders to gain buy-in and drive change.
  5. Strong commercial awareness and a keen interest in improving business performance.
  6. Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience working within legal and regulatory frameworks.
  8. Results-driven self-starter, with the ability to work independently within a fast-paced team and to tight deadlines as required by the business.
