Our Learning Resource Centre team are looking to recruit a part-time LRC Assistant to work in our busy Learning Resources Centre.
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our Learning Resource Centre team, helping to provide an excellent service to our students and staff. You will be passionate about supporting students to achieve their qualifications and be ready for their next step.
Duties will include assisting and supporting students to find and use learning resources for their studies, researching and buying new resources within given budgets and ensuring the LRCs are welcoming, friendly and productive study environments.
You must have excellent customer service skills and be able to work well with the LRC team and cross college colleagues. You will also have the ability to engage with a diverse range of students. You will be educated to at least Level 3 and be a confident internet user with good IT skills.
This is a term time only role working 15 hours per week on Mondays and Fridays, 37 weeks per year. The successful candidate will be based at our Watford Site, with occasional travel to our Hemel Site when needed.
Main Purpose of Job
Working as part of a proactive, innovative and responsive Learning Resource function to deliver a professional and customer focused Learning Resource service to students and staff across the College Group. To provide a full range of services to students and to build and develop relationships with curriculum staff. To take responsibility for the delivery and collection of resources across the college group and planning, procurement and deployment of resources to support teaching and learning.
Main duties and responsibilities
- As a member of an integrated team, to participate in the day-to-day delivery of an efficient, effective and customer focused Learning Resources service which supports the provision of learning resources across the College.
- Organising a next day dispatch and collection of resources to staff and students across the College group.
- Take responsibility for the planning, procurement and deployment of Learning Resources: o be responsible for e-book, e-journals and on-line materials o cataloguing new resources and maintaining the integrity of the catalogue o be responsible for the deployment of technical equipment and digital technology o maintaining accurate information to support financial records
- Liaise with curriculum staff on the provision of resources to support curriculum
- Identify and understand student's needs for resources and be able to research and source relevant information in a variety of formats.
- Acquire and maintain a good knowledge of information sources and literature of subject areas relevant to the needs of the students, in order to help them find information from a variety of sources and to encourage the use of current and emerging technologies to support the delivery of the curriculum.
- Streamline the Learning Resource provision to ensure operations are efficient and effective and well managed.
- To participate in the monitoring of Learning Resource services, through monitoring uptake and customer feedback. To assist in the regular recording of statistics on service usage and activity. Ensure all data on manual and computerised records is accurate and up to date and provide accurate and timely reports as and when required.
