We are hiring an Anaerobic Digestion Lab Technician to join our expanding AD and Lab Department. Within this position the successful candidate will be an integral within our processing and treatment plant facilities with a key focus on Anaerobic Digestion. The Lab Technician will be responsible for looking after the plant biology and day to day testing of the AD Plant.

The role:

  • Collaborate as part of a dedicated operations team overseeing all AD and Power Plant processes.
  • Optimize biological processes to boost biogas production, ensuring ideal digester conditions across various feedstocks.
  • Ensure quality controls are maintained for peak plant efficiency, and promptly report any non-conforming results.
  • Perform daily sampling, testing, record-keeping, and reporting on-site.
  • Monitor and assist in the operational management of the Anaerobic Digestion and Power Plants in line with site protocols.
  • Work closely with management, operators, and the business development team, conducting tests on a range of materials to meet operational requirements and quality standards for final products (e.g., fertilizers, specialty gases).
  • Take a proactive approach to resolving process issues.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety policies and Codes of Practice, including the creation and implementation of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in Anaerobic Digestion laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment handling.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, spectrometers, and pipettes.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and record-keeping software.
  • Experience in method development, validation, and instrumentation calibration.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work in a regulated environment (ISO, GMP).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
