Software Engineering Lead

Are you seeking a new role where you can both lead and code hands-on?

A leading risk assessment provider is looking for a Software Engineer Lead to join the team on a permanent basis.

In this position, you will manage a team of software developers while also engaging in hands-on coding. You will split your time equally between leadership responsibilities and coding, ensuring you stay grounded in the technical aspects of development. You will be developing solutions designed to help address complex challenges in areas such as anti-money laundering, identity authentication & verification, fraud and credit Risk mitigation, and data management.

This will be a hybrid role with 2 days a week in the office which is based in Leeds city centre.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide guidance and training to junior software engineers, fostering their professional growth.
  • Write and review detailed specifications for system components.
  • Work closely with the development team to understand product requirements and translate them into effective software designs.
  • Cultivate new ideas from team members to drive continuous improvement through innovation.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for software development issues within your area of responsibility.

What you need:

  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team of Software Engineers.
  • Strong skills in Java, Spring Boot, Angular or ReactJS, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience in collaborating with internal and external technology resources to solve complex business challenges.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data manipulation languages and optimisation techniques.
  • Ability to collaborate, support, and motivate team members to achieve results, providing both technical and professional guidance.
