Up to £30,000
12 Month Fixed Term Contract/Full Time
Futures Place, Stevenage

  • Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders?
  • Do you excel at coordinating events and programmes?
  • Could you be our next FIRST® LEGO® League Project Coordinator?

At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people. At the IET you'll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you'll grow - professionally and personally - in ways you never thought possible. We're also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.

What you'll be doing

As the FIRST® LEGO® League Project Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of delivering an inspiring and impactful STEM programme across the UK and Ireland. Your role will involve coordinating the annual FIRST® LEGO® League season, ensuring that all stakeholders—schools, volunteers, sponsors, and partners—are equipped and ready to participate. You'll manage day-to-day project activities, from organising events and distributing resources to maintaining budgets and collating feedback. You'll also work closely with our marketing and social media teams to promote the programme and represent the IET at events, helping to ignite a passion for STEM in young minds.

What we hope you can bring to the role

We're looking for someone with experience in coordinating projects, particularly within tight deadlines, and who excels in stakeholder management. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to deliver at public speaking events and a keen eye for detail, especially when it comes to managing contracts and budgets. Your IT skills, particularly in Excel and mail merge, will be essential. Ideally, you'll have a background in education or STEM enhancement, and familiarity with the UK education system. If you're a creative problem-solver, motivated by making a difference, and prepared to travel, we'd love to hear from you.

We'd love to get to know you

Is Imposter syndrome creeping in? Don't worry - we'd rather hear from you this time than not hear from you at all! Read on for a little more information about the role; but also, keep in mind that we're open to discussing flexible ways of working, including reduced hours and working in an agile way, supported by a hybrid working framework that allows you to find the best place to do your best work.

A little more about the role

  • Coordinate the Annual FIRST® LEGO® League Season: Manage all aspects of project delivery, including school recruitment, resource distribution, and event logistics.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the main point of contact for schools, sponsors, volunteers, and partners, ensuring they are fully supported and engaged throughout the programme.
  • Event Organisation: Plan and oversee training days, webinars, and showcase events, ensuring smooth registration processes and successful delivery.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and manage project budgets to ensure all activities are delivered within agreed financial limits.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to promote the FIRST® LEGO® League programme across various platforms.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Collect and analyse evaluation data from participating schools to inform project reporting and future improvements.
  • Onsite Representation: Represent the IET at events across the UK and Ireland, supporting the effective delivery of the FIRST® LEGO® League programme.

A little more about what we're looking for

  • Proven experience in managing and coordinating projects, particularly within tight deadlines and across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with confidence in public speaking and engaging with diverse audiences.
  • High accuracy in handling contracts, budgets, and data, ensuring all aspects of the project are meticulously managed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially with Excel and Mail Merge functions, with a willingness to learn and utilise databases and CRMs.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including schools, sponsors, and volunteers.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Ideally, a background in education, STEM enhancement, or a strong understanding of the UK education system and the challenges schools face in participating in enrichment activities.
  • Preparedness to travel within the UK and Ireland, with a flexible approach to working hours when required.
