Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Engineer (rolling stock, automotive, marine, plant/aviation, military, HGV)
Shorterm Group are partnered with a globally-recognised rolling stock manufacturer to hire a number of mechanical fitters to work on new and existing projects involving the overhaul and maintenance of rail bogies.
The successful mechanical fitter for this role will have a demonstrable background working with a variety of hand-held tools within a busy commercial environment - we will consider any strong background of using these tools to maintain/overhaul heavy machinery (automotive, HGV, military vehicle techs etc.) although we will need you to be NVQ level 2 qualified as a minimum.
Daily responsibilities for the mechanical fitter on this job will include:
- Bogie gearbox / chassis / wheel set overhaul/repair
- Bearing / axle / wheel mounting, wheel exchange on wheel sets
- Components and sub-assemblies overhaul, repair, analysis, re-engineering/production of spare parts
