We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone who is AAT fully qualified or part qualified ACCA or CIMA, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting. The successful candidate will be adept at using accounting software such as SAGE 200 and have experience with ERP systems and Excel, including VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Check bank statements and update the cashbook for all currencies daily.
  • Process purchase ledger invoices, including retrieving information, posting, and checking VAT amounts.
  • Maintain AP ledgers, spreadsheets, and reports, ensuring documents are authorised as per company procedures.
  • Manage the nominal ledger, sales ledger journals, recurring and monthly journals.
  • Match purchase invoices with purchase orders/GRNs and prepare weekly payment runs and cash flow forecasts.
  • Upload payments on the bank's net banking system and post and allocate payments received and sent.
  • Communicate with suppliers via phone or email and check purchase ledger statements.
  • Archive accounts documents, including scanning AP documentation onto SAGE 200.
  • Assist with VAT preparation, processing staff credit card expenses, and raising customer credit notes.
  • Maintain and update the fixed assets register and issue intercompany invoices or debit notes.
  • Carry out month-end procedures and ad-hoc reporting and finance or operations-related tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • AAT fully qualified or part qualified ACCA or CIMA.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting.
  • Experience with SAGE 200 or equivalent accounting package.
  • Proficiency in ERP System and Excel (up to VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables).
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Strong team-working skills and the ability to chase approvals when necessary.
