Accounts Payable Supervisor/ Manager

My client is seeking an Senior Accounts Payable Clerk to help lead and manage the accounts payable function using Sage 200. The role involves daily management of bank accounts, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring efficient payment processes. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle a variety of financial tasks.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead the accounts payable function, managing all supplier invoices, statements, and GP payments.
  • Oversee daily management of bank accounts, including Direct Debits, Standing Orders, and cheque transactions to help ensure liquidity.
  • Update and maintain computerised and manual records accurately, including data inputting.
  • Set up and maintain accurate computerised records for clients, including bank account details for BACS payments, and resolve any issues arising from inaccurate data.
  • Produce relevant correspondence and follow procedures to respond to queries relating to accounts receivable.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external customers or subcontractors to chase outstanding invoices/credit notes and resolve issues to ensure efficient payments.
  • Handle and process receipts and invoices appropriately for accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile VAT accounts and assist in compiling VAT Returns.
  • Review and improve processes continuously, including full documentation.
  • Complete Government National Statistic data and undertake any other ad hoc duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing an accounts payable function.
  • Proficiency in using Sage 200 or similar accounting software.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills for liaising with internal and external parties.
  • Experience in reconciliation of accounts and VAT returns.
