Financial Controller

Barnes Roffe Recruitment has partnered with a highly regarded business, who are looking for a Financial Controller to join their team - someone who is dynamic and keen to grow with their business, playing an important part in their company.

Key accountabilities:

  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting knowledge, leading a department of skilled team members.
  • Have a large remit and key responsibilities towards a business' current and future stability and growth.
  • Develop and supervise the implementation of internal financial accounting and reporting systems.
  • Oversee the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers.
  • Provide key contributions to the company's financial strategy and decision-making processes.
  • Analyse, prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial, budgeting and forecasting reports, and present your findings to the board.
  • Lead the end-to-end audit process of current systems, while acting as a point of contact for external auditors.
  • Take overall responsibility for the management of financial details to ensure that legal requirements are met.
  • Manage, mentor and motivate the finance team.
  • Review the financial reports and seek ways to reduce company costs.
  • Find expansion opportunities and maximise profits though the analysis of market trends.
  • Propose solutions to identified risks, and effectively manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Supervise the research into factors influencing business performance and report on these.
  • Control the preparation and interpretation of statutory accounts and present your findings.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices.

Key attributes:

  • Experience working as a Financial Controller within commodities is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience using Sage is essential.
  • Qualified or Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Accountant.
  • Great attention to detail, able to produce written and numerical reports.
  • Strong IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • High degree of flexibility and able to adapt quickly.
  • A proactive and energetic personality able to operate at a senior level.
