About:
A well-established SME who punches well above their weight is looking for an experienced Civil Design Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer to join their ranks.

With a significant list of further requisitions for work in the pipeline, the team is incredibly busy and looking for your help.

The projects they undertake include high-profile residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments in the London region and beyond.

As part of a smaller, dynamic, and collaborative team, there is plenty of opportunity to progress quickly and confidently to the next level, which you will be supported with.

Role:
As a Civil Design Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer, you will be involved in the design of roads and drainage for developments in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

At the Engineer level, you will primarily be involved in the delivery of projects assigned to you while upskilling and mentoring more junior engineers.

At Senior level, your role will include line management and overseeing delivery, with consideration given to the commercialisation of projects, including the management of resources to produce profitable deliverables, as well as beginning to contribute to fee proposals and the wider business development function.

Requirements

  • Competent in foul and surface water drainage design including SUDS.
  • Competent in preparing drainage strategies and flood risk assessments.
  • Experience in adoptable infrastructure design and the negotiation of Section 104, 106, 278, 38 Agreements.
  • Experience in liaising with local authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary technical approvals and consents.
  • Ability to use computer design software packages including MicroDrainage and Civil 3D.
  • Sound detailing knowledge.
  • Sound understanding of CDM Regulations and the responsibilities of designers.
  • Conversant in designing to British Standards/Eurocodes/Building Regulations/Sewers for Adoption and SUDS Manual (C753).
  • Minimum HND/HNC in civil engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in delegating and supervising junior team members.
  • Experience in acting as mentor to junior team members.
  • Good organisational/time management skills.
  • Proactive approach to work.

Areas of responsibilities

  • Execute and coordinate projects, providing high quality technical design.
  • Produce technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports.
  • Review and approve reports, designs, drawings, sketches and calculations in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Manage the preparation of feasibility studies and reports.
  • Undertake surveys and produce reports giving findings, discussion, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Undertake the project management and financial control of small and medium sized projects.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, local authorities and other design team members.
  • Supervise and monitor the use of computer-based systems to ensure these are used correctly.
  • Supervise and support junior members of the team.
