Civils Team Manager

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate based locally to Northampton to join an industry leading family owned manufacturing company that specialises in the world of domestic and commercial drainage solutions.

They pride themselves on providing a high quality, sustainable product and service, at a competitive price with a strong commitment to providing the best service possible.

They are now looking for someone to join the business and head up the civils department.

This is taking over a stable member of staff who has been in the role for the last 10 years but is unfortunately moving due to commitments outside of work.

They are ideally looking for someone from a civils merchant background or similar, supplying in to the civil engineering/construction industry.

Within this role you will become a key, go to person in the business and interact with a number of stakeholders across the business including senior management, internal and external sales, designers and commercial.

You will be responsible of a team of 3, including 2 internal sales and service advisor staff and a CAD designer.

In terms of scope this team is responsible for quotation value of £3million per month

What's on offer?

Salary = Circa £48,000 per annum

Location = Northampton (NN9) - Office based role Mon-Fri

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Quotations: Prepare accurate and timely quotations for larger-scale commercial, industrial, and leisure projects. This involves working on drainage layouts, utilizing our in-house computer system, and calculating flow rates.
  • Supplier Coordination: Liaise with multiple production sites and suppliers to ensure seamless order processing and timely product delivery.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with an external team to contribute to project wins.
  • Conversion Targets: Maintain and exceed conversion targets set by Senior Management.
  • Team Oversight: Manage day-to-day tasks of the Civils Office, working alongside and supervising the existing team.
  • Innovation: Actively participate in meetings and offer ideas to drive departmental growth and improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Civils Knowledge: Understanding of Civils Drainage is essential. For example pump specifications, flow rates, and drainage layouts.
  • Product knowledge: Familiarity with off-mains drainage products (e.g., Sewage Treatment Plants, Pump Stations, Oil Separators) is advantageous.
  • Software Proficiency: Confident in using computer programs such as Excel, Outlook, and Word. Previous experience with CAD/BIM drawings is desirable.
  • Time Management: Ability to handle a department that quotes over £3 million per month while maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset and decisive problem-solving skills.
