Overview:

Role Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Procurement Consultant to join their procurement team, which consists of five procurement partners and includes two direct reports. This role is integral to centralised their procurement processes and will involve significant work on cloud services, hardware procurement, library services, and software acquisitions. The consultant will also play a key role in capital projects, including the development of their new campus.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Services and Hardware Procurement:

  • Lead the procurement of cloud services and hardware solutions.
  • Ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance with university standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations.

Library Services and Software Procurement:

  • Oversee the procurement of library services and software solutions.
  • Assess and select software that meets the educational and operational needs of the university.

Centralise Procurement Processes (AAS):

  • Develop and implement strategies to centralise IT procurement.
  • Ensure alignment with the university's strategic goals and streamline procurement processes.
  • Utilise As-A-Service (AAS) models to optimise procurement efficiency.

Capital Projects:

  • Manage procurement activities for capital projects, including new campus development.
  • Collaborate with the estates team to ensure timely and budget-compliant project execution.

Technical Expertise:

  • Possess a deep understanding of various tech stack languages.
  • Provide technical insights to support procurement decisions and project implementations.

Collaboration and Relationship Building:

  • Collaborate closely with academic, research, and administrative departments to understand and fulfil their IT procurement needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in IT procurement, particularly in cloud services and hardware.
  • In-depth knowledge of library services and software procurement.
  • Experience with capital projects and centralising procurement processes.
  • Proficiency in tech stack languages relevant to the university's infrastructure.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience in the education sector is highly desirable.

Project Scope:

This is a long-term project in line with the university's strategic goals. The role will be crucial in supporting their ambition to enhance infrastructure and capabilities, including the development of a new campus. The IT Procurement Consultant will be expected to bring innovative procurement solutions to support the university's goals.
