About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to: Glasgow, Perth, or Dublin.

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We have an exciting opportunity to join SSE Renewables as a Commercial Finance Manager to partner our Offshore business specifically on the operational assets Greater Gabbard and Beatrice. Focussed on performance improvement, business analysis & insight, strategic business planning, budgeting & forecasting activities. This is a forward-looking role that will work closely with the senior business roles providing timely and effective support and challenge. Specific responsibilities include:

Partnering the General Managers of Greater Gabbard, Beatrice and the Offshore Director of Operations being the face of finance for the business with the core responsibility of the delivery of the monthly results and forecast, annual budget, 10 year plans and project finance models

  • Member of senior management team in the joint ventures, being the voice of finance within these teams and using this forum to proactively challenge the business on financial performance, to drive improvements, providing insight, knowledge, and recommendations at Head of / Director level. It is expected that the CFM will contribute and provide challenge to non-finance related topics as member of the leadership teams.
  • Prepare, co-ordinate and leading robust Directorate forecasts, budgets and longer-term planning including stakeholder sign off, providing financial insight and challenge as necessary to ensure budgets are accurate, realistic, and aligned with the broader SSER strategy.
  • Interaction and management of the key stakeholders across the assets, namely shareholders, directors, lenders, LCCC and other internal SSE departments such as Regulation, Legal and Procurement
  • Contribute to or lead on business improvement / deep dive projects requested by the business or pro-actively put forward by finance and the joint venture
  • Member of Greater Gabbard and Beatrice Operational Committee representing SSE and advising on finance and non-finance related matters and attend as well as present financials at the Greater Gabbard and Beatrice Boards and Management Committee's

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to :

  • Be a fully qualified accountant with 5 years+ PQE in a Business Partner / Finance Manager / Management Accountant business-interfacing role with experience of solving business issues of similar scale and complexity.
  • Excellent analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Have a strong background in a project driven business with understanding of contract management, project delivery and financial planning.
  • Excellent skills in interpreting and assimilating from multiple data sources, including external market data, and rendering into meaningful insight and appropriate recommendations and clear actions. A well as as experience influencing strategy and can translate this into actionable programmes, opportunities or activities that result in improved profitability or risk mitigation.
  • You will be able to effectively communicate financial performance to operational colleagues to embed financial understanding within the business.
