Our client is growing, well established company who are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their friendly, but busy office based in Ware.
Perfect opportunity for a candidate with all round experience who lives locally to Ware and is happy to be in the office 5 days a week.
The ideal candidate will have 3 years experience and be looking to develop and progress.
The key day to duties will be as follows:
- Assist with a range of reporting including management accounts, overhead accounts, balance sheets, reconciliations, prepayments and accruals, posting journals
- Assist in the preparation of monthly VAT returns and identifying any errors
- Carrying out reviews of council tax, business rates, utility bills and other costs
- Sales and Purchase ledger overview
- Accurately entering data of invoices, ensuring correct nominal coding and VAT treatment
- ]Ensuring authorisation procedures for purchase invoices are followed
- Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts
- Liaising with colleagues and suppliers to resolve any invoice queries
- Completing reconciliation of bank accounts
- Accurate coding of the AP invoices onto the system
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial information
- Preparing and entering journals into the system
- Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties
Skills
- Good spoken and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Commercial awareness
- Ideally knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, v-look ups) and Word
- Confident, approachable and team orientated
- Show initiative and prepared to change working practice
The role is 5 days a week in the office with the hours 9-5pm.
This role would suit someone who is looking to progress and develop in the future.
The ideal candidate will have all round accounts experience and be looking to take a step up and work alongside a Financial Controller and a small team.
